I don't ever want to forget...

I just love that Luke calls blankets and stuffed animals "cuddles". As in, "Mommy, I'm going to bed. I need my cuddles!" His number one cuddle is Puppy. Puppy is getting a little worn (I didn't realize just how worn until I found a picture from when Puppy was still young) but is very loved.

Kate's movie theater...

Kate spent most of yesterday afternoon preparing her "theater" for our family movie night. The kids love having movie night and we try to do it pretty often but they still request it every other night, trying to think of a movie that Daddy hasn't seen. Every time we do have movie night, Kate makes us stand in line and pretend to buy tickets. With more time to prepare yesterday, though, she set up the box office, made up some tickets and even gave us "money" to pay for them. She was very proud of her plan and had everything ready to go before dinner was even ready...

After dinner, we popped some popcorn, spread out our blankets and settled down for "101 Dalmations".

My DIY...

Have you met Pinterest?? If you haven't, go there now...you're sure to love it! The first few nights after I succumbed to the curiosity to what this pinterest thing was I was up way past my bedtime "pinning"! I love the organization and the inspiration. So much so that I now have a good handful of DIY projects that I plan on doing to spruce up the house decor without going broke. I did my first project today. I've been looking for a lamp for our entry way console table for a while now but couldn't find one for less than $40, that I was willing to spend $40+ on. Yesterday, when I stopped by a friend's garage sale they had the perfect shade out to sell and kindly gave it to me. Thanks, Tim & Jenelle! This got me motivated so I picked up a $5 lamp at Goodwill and some paint at Ganahl's (did you know they can take any paint and make it spray paint?!?!) and put in a couple of hours in the backyard. Here's how it went...

Sanded and taped

Primed

The girl at Ganahl's was a HUGE help to this amateur and helped me pick out the right stuff for my project. The paint they put in the spray can for me was an eggshell finish so I got Crystal Clear gloss to give it a shinier finish.

Done!

VBS 2011...

Last week was VBS at our church. This was Kate's third and Luke's first year attending as a "student" and they had a great time! It was another successful year with over 70 kids in attendance! I worked as a group leader in Kate's class and enjoyed spending the week getting to know the kids in her age group a little better. Kate and Luke were pretty disappointed when the week was over and are already asking when we're going to VBS again. =)
