March 23rd was our ten year wedding anniversary! Ten years! A whole decade! When I look back it feels like so long ago but it has gone so fast...weird. Traditionally speaking, 10 years is the "tin" anniversary but, rather than gifting each other a bunch of aluminum, we opted for a just-the-two-of-us weekend away. =) Our anniversary fell on Friday so after taking the kids to school, doing some work in Kate's classroom, and running a few errands we hit the road to Palm Desert. It was a PERFECT weekend! While it was rainy and windy back at home, we were enjoying low 80's with a warm breeze which, in and of itself, would make me so, so happy. After we arrived and enjoyed just sitting on the patio for a while, we went out for a delicious pizza dinner and then went to see "The Hunger Games". On Saturday, we slept in, went out for a yummy breakfast burrito, and then spent a glorious 5 hours at The Well Spa at the Mira Monte Resort and Spa. John had never been to a spa so it took him a while to adjust but he soon got into the spirit and appreciated how wonderful it was. We went in the steam rooms, had a couples massage, and then ordered lunch and hung out by the spa pool. It was so peaceful and lovely. That night we had a sickingly delicious dinner at Ruth's Chris. Seriously, we were so full we were sick by the end of the night! Mmmmm!! On our last morning, we had brunch at the clubhouse and forced ourselves to say good-bye to our perfect anniversary weekend.
