For sale...

Just a quick post to update everyone on the house situation. It's been a crazy few days. Sarah held two open houses in our house this weekend with record numbers of people. Even realtors who have been in the business for years and years were shocked at the 60 or so people that showed up on Saturday and almost 30 that came on Sunday! There were several interested buyers and we got a lot of great feedback. It is a buyers market right now so we'll have to wait and see. In the meantime I'm actually really enjoying keeping the house so nice and tidy and am falling back in love with it. If we do end up moving, it's going to be really hard to leave. =(

Remember me?

Hey all, remember me? It has been a crazy couple of weeks. Both kids and John were sick for over a week so I've barely had time to breathe let alone blog. But now, finally, after many sleepless nights,antibiotics, nasal suctioning, and practically coughing up a couple of lungs we are on the mend. So with that obstacle out of the way we move on to our next endeavor...a move! John and I have made the decision to put our house on the market and look for something with a little more room. Our friend and realtor, Sarah Ireland (with First Team), is taking great care of us and listed our house on the MLS last night so it's official- click here to check out the realtor.com page! We are experiencing such mixed feelings but are excited about where this might take us. It will definitely be a leap of faith (especially on my control freak self) to just do it and be confident that if things fall into place, it's meant to be. We are constantly reminding ourselves and each other that this is not in our hands and God will provide and take care of us when we trust Him. So for now we just breathe. Phew! It will be a very bittersweet move as we have put so much of ourselves into this house, our first home. =( I get a little teary when I start looking around at all of the things I love about it. But, if it's meant to be, it's meant to be and I'll just take a ton of pictures and video and move on. The response has been pretty amazing already- not even 24 hours on the market and we've had a couple of people call or email about it. So stay tuned and I'll keep you all updated on our progress and how insane I'm going trying to keep the house in "showing condition" 24/7. Our first open house is this weekend so hopefully we'll get an idea of how it's going to go.

New Year's Resolution...

Happy 2008! I cannot believe that. I was filling out my new calendar and almost died as I wrote in "Kate's 3rd Birthday", "Luke's 1st Birthday", "Johnny's 30th Birthday!" How could that be? How could my baby girl be turning 3?! Or my baby, who I swear I was just pregnant with, be turing one?! And John 30! Oh my gosh! Where do the years go?
We had our annual New Year's Day ebleskiver breakfast at my Nana (or as Kate calls her "Other Nana") & Bapa's house. For the first time in several years everybody in the Ostermann extended family was in attendance- all 27 of us! We took the opportunity to take a big family picture which, amazingly, went very smoothly with 3 two-year-olds and 2 infants. We also took our annual "cousins-on-the-staircase" picture which was extremely cramped but fun. Stay tuned, I'll post the pics when I get them.
As for my new year's resolution...I usually don't make them b/c, let's face it, who ever keeps them. But this year I've made one that should be fairly simple to keep. I'm sort of embarrassed to say that in the almost 6 years that we've lived in our house we've never recycled. I know, I know some of you are gasping in horror (Lo, I hear ya!) but I'm doing it now. I have to start over already, though, since I failed to mention it to John and he threw away last weeks collection. I never thought I'd be excited about trash sorting but I'm having fun with it and plan to get little containers to seperate the plastics from the aluminums from the paper from the glass. So if anyone has any recycling tips: is it better to sort and take it to a recycling center or just put it all in the city bin? what kinds of things should we recycle that most people don't think of? etc. let me know.
