New Year's Resolution...

Happy 2008! I cannot believe that. I was filling out my new calendar and almost died as I wrote in "Kate's 3rd Birthday", "Luke's 1st Birthday", "Johnny's 30th Birthday!" How could that be? How could my baby girl be turning 3?! Or my baby, who I swear I was just pregnant with, be turing one?! And John 30! Oh my gosh! Where do the years go?
We had our annual New Year's Day ebleskiver breakfast at my Nana (or as Kate calls her "Other Nana") & Bapa's house. For the first time in several years everybody in the Ostermann extended family was in attendance- all 27 of us! We took the opportunity to take a big family picture which, amazingly, went very smoothly with 3 two-year-olds and 2 infants. We also took our annual "cousins-on-the-staircase" picture which was extremely cramped but fun. Stay tuned, I'll post the pics when I get them.
As for my new year's resolution...I usually don't make them b/c, let's face it, who ever keeps them. But this year I've made one that should be fairly simple to keep. I'm sort of embarrassed to say that in the almost 6 years that we've lived in our house we've never recycled. I know, I know some of you are gasping in horror (Lo, I hear ya!) but I'm doing it now. I have to start over already, though, since I failed to mention it to John and he threw away last weeks collection. I never thought I'd be excited about trash sorting but I'm having fun with it and plan to get little containers to seperate the plastics from the aluminums from the paper from the glass. So if anyone has any recycling tips: is it better to sort and take it to a recycling center or just put it all in the city bin? what kinds of things should we recycle that most people don't think of? etc. let me know.
Question of the day: Do you make New Year's resolutions? If so, what is yours? If not, why?

I love resolutions and make them every year!
This year mine is simple:
1.) Lose baby weight within 5 months.
2.) Begin thinking about ways that I can one day own my own business.

Good for you and the recycling!

I actually am not one to usually make resolutions....... I always seem to break them if I do...... every year I make the resolution to get into better shape and be better at getting out and exercising. We'll see how that goes this year. :)

yes, i did gasp OUT LOUD. but i am sooooo proud of you. i don't know if i have any tips. here in oklahoma us hillbillies don't take paper at curbside, so i have to gather it in containers and drive it to the center once a week. all the other stuff i just throw in the bin.
btw, california is the only state currently recycling plastic bags (like from target) so make sure you take advantage of that. they started because the city of L.A. was spending something like 8 million a year just to pick them up off the streets. craziness.
if i think of any tips i'll let you know. i'm so excited for you! another way to utilize your beyond average organizational skills! :) xoxxo
